الوصفThe image depicts Hermann and his wife Regine standing in a backyard, what is presumed to be there place of living in Sydney, Australia. He died in 1951, three years after arriving in Australia by aircraft.
Hermann was the victim of the 1938 Anschluss which shall the annexation of Austria into Germany. He has not only lost citizenship, due to him being a Polish-born Jew but also that of his livelihood and his investment assets. He interned, with his family, in the Hongkew ghetto district of Japanese occupied Shanghai from a period of 1939-1945.
He never achieved restitution and died a frustrated and disappointed man.
