العنوانOstasiatischer Lloyd
الوصفTwo pages of newspaper, in German, from Shanghai, "Ostasiatischer Lloyd", 2nd May 1945. Collected by Edgar and Irene Boehm, Jewish refugees in Shanghai from 1939 until 1946 when they migrated to Australia.
Headline of this German mouthpiece, 'Der Fuehrer gefallen', describes the death of Hitler as the great war hero and savior of the German Nation. There are accounts of the various battles involving German forces, the Soviets or Bolsheviks and the Allies and the various German retreats are admitted. In a minor column there appears a reference to Count Bernadotte and possible negotiations on a German capitulation. Public classical concerts are advertised in Shanghai as well as ads for a Kochboy (kitchen hand).
