Jewish War Memorial in appreciation of his successful and unselfish work during a period of eight years as President, 1946". Simon Joseph (Joe) Guss was born in London, migrated to Australia on 30-10-1916, at the age of 23, enlisted in Sydney to serve in WWI. He served in the A.S.C. (Australian Service Corps) in Egypt and was discharged on 08-08-1919.
