الوصفGreen card coupon (Pramienschein) for the value of 1 Mark, issued in the Flossenburg concentration camp. It bears the stamp of the 'Waffen SS', 'Verwaltung Konzentrationslager Flossenburg' (Administration for the Flossenburg concentration camp). A number is written in pencil on the back of the coupon.
Flossenburg was a concentration camp near the Czech border. It comprised of two camps; one for Jews and one for non-Jewish prisoners such as POW's, political prisoners or homosexuals. According to the donor, coupons such as this were only issued to non-Jews and were used as a form of currency in the camp, to be exchanged for food and favours (e.g. cigarettes). The donor of the coupon lived in Frankfurt after the war and the coupons were given to his sister by German friends.
