The inner world of the concentration camps was characterized by multiple and often ambiguous relations between the various individuals. Such a view is in sharp contrast to the perception that continues to predominate a closed system of suppressors and suppressed. Social relations between individuals and small groups of prisoners, and acts of mutual support existed to an astonishing extent. The camp society was thus perceived in a multitude of different ways according to each individual experience
