background for Kristallnacht: the expulsion of Polish Jews

Seventeen thousand Jews of Polish nationality were rounded up for deportation on October 27 and 28, 1938. The deportation became the paradigm for later National Socialist actions against the Jews. Germany had become successful in making other countries partly liable for its anti-Jewish measures.
