Problems of Protestant cooperation: the Church World Service, the World Council of Churches and post-war relief in Germany

With the termination of fighting in 1945 millions of uprooted people wandered through devstated areas seeking food, medicine and shelter. The Church World Service was established in May 1946 to meet the desperate situation created by the war and famine.
