Object numberM2018/002
DescriptionA tablecloth and six napkins embroidered with the initials of Jewish family. These items were left at the home of the De Jong family in Zeist, Holland, during the Second World War. The De Jongs were active in the Underground movement in The Netherlands, offering their home as a safe house for Jewish families seeking refuge before they continued on to unoccupied countries. The original owners of the tablecloth and napkins never returned after the war to claim them. The De Jongs brought the cloths with them when they migrated to Perth in 1953.
