TitleSong Book
DescriptionA paper booklet, in the shape of a bottle. The booklet is titled “Rudi’s Lullaby”, and was given to Rudi, Irene Boehm’s younger brother, by their Uncle Curt and Aunt Kaethe. The first song is about the stork bringing Rudi to the Ruttholz residence, “two months too early”. The second is written to the tune of the Christmas carol “O Christmas tree”, and is about family members.
Rudi was born on the 17th of October, 1922 in Breslau, Germany. His father, Georg Rothholz, was a successful business owner who owned the department store, Georg Rothholz. In 1939, Rudi immigrated to Shanghai with his mother, Sylvia, older sister, Irene, and Irene's husband, Edgar Boehm. In 1940, Rudi's niece, Dorrit (also the donor of the collection) was born, and in 1946 the Boehms immigrated to Sydney permanently. Rudi stayed back in Shanghai, finally immigrating to the United States and married Shirley Zaft. Rudi died in 1982.
