DescriptionThis is a receipt for a cash subscription to treasury bonds. It is a deposit of £4 out of a total of £20. It was processed and is stamped by the Commonwealth Savings Bank of Australia, Sydney. The stamped date is 13th March 1945. While not stated, these are most likely war bonds, demonstrating Benjamin Pszenny’s support for the Australian war effort. The basic wage in Australia was around £6 per week. Adjusting for inflation that £20 today would be around £800.It is a well preserved example of a war time bond receipt.
