DescriptionThis letter is a set of two correspondences from Mietek and Abramek (donor’s uncles) to Stenia (donor’s mother). The first one from Mietek gives condolences to Ben (donor’s father) who had just recently lost his job, and discusses sending some machinery to Australia. The second letter from Abramek, also sends condolences about lack of work but encourages either Stenia or Ben or both that they will find their feet. He mentions that the Australian government refused 50,000 people immigration, and asks about Rom (donor) and says that his grandmother misses him, and would like a photograph.

We received a letter from Ben which was an answer on our two airmail letters. We are apologising to you that we complained so much that we did not receive letters from you but now they come regularly.
We did not receive the letter that you wrote from Melbourne, it probably was lost. Dear Ben I’m very sorry and upset that you lost your job but probably very shortly you will find something else and you will be as happy as last time. You shouldn’t be distressed because all beginnings are difficult but with perseverance one achieves.
I understand it is very unpleasant to be seeking jobs in a strange land but one has to find the strength and not lose heart.
I was speaking with your father this week about all different parts of machinery. He said everything is all right, it was packed and ready to go out. But we are waiting – you have to get the OK from the government. Or maybe it would be easier if I could find somebody who is going to Australia, but it must be someone who is an honest man or else in the Polish Consulate in Australia and say that you left all these things in Poland and you need them but there is another possibility that I will speak to someone here.
Cesiu write me if you are working and if the work is well paid and what do you do with Romek. Can you manage all these things?
You ask me if we have to pay extra for the letters. Up until now we don’t have to so don’t worry.
Best regards, all my love to you all and especially for sweet Romek

We are receiving every Monday a letter. So much time we all read the loving regards. Ben don’t be upset that you lost your job one who works too long in one job doesn’t achieve much.
Because all the years you have no rest. You will try so hard until you become the 2nd Ford.
This week we read in the papers that Canberra refused 50,000 people immigration.
Does sweet Romeczek as for his beloved grandmother who is so longing for him? She would at least like to see him in a photograph. Kisses to you all and also from our lovely gorgeous mamusi (mother).
Yours, loving Abram
