The frontispiece features the famous b/w photograph portrait of Anne Frank, and other family photos illustrate the book. The dust jacket features a b/w illustration of a sketch of the house where the family was hiding. Plan of the house is on p. 26.
The first English language edition was published in Great Britain in 1952. It was translated by Barbara Mooyaart-Doubleday who was contracted by Vallentine, Mitchell & Co. in England. English language edition was the second in what later became a world of translation phenomenon. The first ever translation appeared in German in 1950. English translations for Britain and the United States followed in 1952. The first Spanish edition was published in 1955. The diary has been translated into 70 languages, and published in over 60 countries. More than 30 million copies of Anne Frank’s diary have been sold.
