DescriptionThis postcard is one of eight cards from Anna Kalfus collection of family war-time letters & postcards. It is a pre-printed Deutsches Reich's postcard with a printed stamp of value of 15 Pfennig without date showing the profile portrait of the second president of Germany, Generalfeldmarshall Paul von Hindenburg (1847 - 1934).
The card is dated Bendzin, 29/8/1940 and sent from Anna's sister H(elene) Tintpulwer and addressed to Ida Tintpulwer in Russia. Anna was 21 and her sister Ida 27 when they were both taken to a labour camp in Russia in 1940. Written on both sides in Polish, the card conveys concerns about the wellbeing of both sisters, Ida and Hanka (as was Anna called by her parents), as well as wishes for early reunion of the family.

We are sending you a postcard which follows our letter to you. We are very distressed following the loss of our beloved. Try with all your strength to improve your situation. Write to us in detail about your life. We assume that this post card will reach your hands in a month time on the day of you birthday dear Haneczka. We wish you our dearest a swift reunion with ..........and with us. May God take you into his care and direct your loss the way you would wish for yourself. It is a pity that unfortunately we can not be together at your 20th birthday but we have hope that your 21st birthday we will celebrate together. You my dear Ida...as the eldest..take care of Haneczka who always at home had the best of care being the youngest. We kiss you a thousand times individually. What is with Mirjam? Where are Jozef and Jadwiga L,? They must be in Swierdlowsk.
