TitleThe Shanghai Jewish Chronicle
DescriptionNewspaper in German from Shanghai, "Shanghai Jewish Chronicle", 18th February 1943. Collected by Edgar and Irene Boehm, Jewish refugees in Shanghai from 1939 until 1946 when they migrated to Australia.
Although called Jewish Chronicle there is nothing particularly Jewish about the coverage on pages 1 – 4. There is very broad coverage of the war both in Europe and the Far East and Japan’s far reaching successes are reported in detail. The various regulations governing “Stateless Refugees” in Shanghai are shown in detail, with precise demarcations of the districts assigned to them in the SIS (Shanghai International Settlement). There is a page covering small commercial ads and notice of public concerts.
