DescriptionThis yellow-coloured cloth armband, with the letters N.E.S. printed in black on it, was worn by members of the National Emergency Services (N.E.S.) and held in place by an elastic band at the back. It was worn by Marjorie Sachs, mother of the donor, who joined the service in October 1939 and worked in the catering side of operations, as well as doing first aid. It provides evidence evidence of commitment to the wider Australian community and the war effort, the NES providing services such as rescue, clothing, feeding, first aid, evacuation etc.
