DescriptionPicture Bible for Children, illustrated by Otto Geisman (1873-1957), published in Berlin, 1928. These minimalist line drawings, almost entirely without accompanying text, depict notable scenes from the bible, beginning with Adam and Eve in Paradise, Noah building the ark, the Tower of Babel, and concluding with the Israelites in Egypt.
The owner, Hanna Newcombe (nee Heimann), born in Germany in 1923, immigrated to Australia in 1938 a few months before Kristallnacht, together with her brother Artur and sister-in-law Clara Heimann. She used this book in school in Berlin. It is inscribed Hannele Heimann, 1931, in the Hebrew year 5692 and bears a stamp of the school - Rel-Schule der Jud Gemeinde Bln, Bezirk Lichtenberg.
