DescriptionA typed letter addressed to Mrs. E. of Welwyn Garden City, England. The sender states that Henriette and Karl Heinz Nerichow's parents Regina and Boris had been transported from Dortmund, Germany to Riga (Latvia) on the 21 Jan 1942 and that there had been no further news. This information had been recived through the Red Cross, Moscow Branch.
Henriette Nerichow was sent to England aged 13 in 1938 due to the famous “Kindertransport” - the informal name of a series of rescue efforts which brought thousands of refugee Jewish children to Great Britain from Nazi Germany between 1938 and 1940. Her brother Karl Heinz made his way to England in 1939 at the age of 17, they both migrated to Australia in 1957. This document is a representation of Australian Jewish history and the Holocaust and its effects on Henriette and Karl’s life.
