This photo depicts the body of a concentration camp prisoner wearing striped clothes, with their head covered by material being hung with rope around their neck that has been tied to a hook, on a wooden construction for the purpose of displaying the victim. This scene is taking place in a yard at the Buchenwald concentration camp. Well-dressed German civilians have been brought from the nearby town has been brought to witness the atrocities that had been taking place. Surrounding the victim and the German civilians is a wooden pole fence. Behind the fence there are some German civilians as well as men who have been identified in the photo’s caption of being men of General Patton’s Third Army are looking over the fence.
There is a carbon-copy caption attached on to the back of the image which reads:
