DescriptionMarriage certificate of Seemah Menahaim and Aaron Aaron, 27 December 1942, in Calcutta, India. Accompanied by a brass container in which it was stored. According to the donor, the cylinder was probably made by his father Aaron who was an engineer. The Ketubah records, in Hebrew and English, the prenuptial agreement considered part of the traditional Jewish marriage. Aaron Aaron arrived in Sydney in 1950 age 35. He was a respected leader of the Sephardi community in Calcutta and wasted no time getting involved with the Sephardi community in Sydney. With his drive and foresight he rallied men and women to the cause of building the first Sephardi Centre and Prayer Hall in Sydney.
