DescriptionThis is a group of badge items belonging to Maurice Ochert. Maurice Ochert was a member of the 2nd Bondi Judean Scouting Troop which was formed in 1927 by Edgar Kelson. It appears that these items may have been previously attached to the pair of uniform brassards belonging to Maurice Ochert featured in the Judean Scouts Object Number M2013/003:001. The objects in this group include “Ist Judean” and “2nd Bondi (Judean)” tape badges, a New South Wales St George’s Cross badge and a green and gold Australasian Jamboree metal badge from the Jamboree held in Sydney in 1938.
Maurice Ochert has a longstanding connection with the Judean Scouting movement and recollections of his time in the troop are documented in “Bondi Jewry Between the Wars”, an article which featured in the Australian Jewish Historical Society Journal.
