DescriptionThis is a black and white advertising leaflet for Leisuremaster clothing. It depicts several slogans and photographic campaigns, including ‘the people who perfected jeans’ and ‘Status Jeans’.
Most significantly, the leaflet depicts several people standing by a bar wearing Leisuremaster clothing and below it, the same people in the nude. The ad is accompanied by the slogan: ‘It’s Leisuremaster..or nothing’. Produced in the late 1960is to 1970s, this campaign was considered quite risqué for its time and inspired by the musical 'Hair'.
Leisuremaster was founded by Bernard Tobias and Stefan Einhorn in 1951. They were among the first manufacturers to import materials from Hong Kong. The business was closed in the mid-1980s. Bernard arrived in Australia from Poland in 1949 and passed away at the age of 91. He worked tirelessly for Jewish communal causes during his lifetime.
