DescriptionA document reporting that no parcels from abroad were received at Theresienstadt on 12 July 1943. This brief typed report in German was issued to the ’Bank of Jewish Self-administration ‘ and signed by Moric Kohn, Post- Railway Station Service. The partially illegible stamp in the left top corner reads “Jewish Self-Administration, Theresienstadt, Dept. of Post….., Post Received”.
It took more than a year, until spring 1943, for those Jews who were deported to camps, to be allowed to receive relief parcels. This permission was quickly transformed by the Nazis into detailed procedures and strict regulations. Relief parcels were sent by family members or friends, and also by several support organizations like Red Cross based in neutral Switzerland and Portugal. This report was likely to be one of daily requirements, reporting in detail the number of parcels received.
