This small and seemingly petty entry card documents the rigid nature of the Nazi’s administration. All aspects of life in the ghetto were strictly managed and regulated. Every movement required permission and needed to be recorded. The Jewish self-administration worked under the Nazi control and was charged with implementation of many ghetto’s regulations and restrictions.
The card reveals the detailed administration required within the ghetto and this document bears a person's full identification through his or her Transport number (Moric's was AAv888), and other details, like 'being born Jewish (stamped with "J", BI column has been stamped "BV" (perhaps indicating the barracks number). The last remaining portion of the food card has number 31, ie. the last daily portion of the food coupon.
