DescriptionA receipt issued by the Terezin Ghetto Jewish self-administration to Moric Kohn for repairing stockings. It is dated 20 March 1943, records his transport number (AAv 888), his current lodgement (Seestrasse 10) and is non-transferable.
This small and seemingly unimportant docket documents the rigid nature of the Nazi’s administration. All aspects of life in the ghetto were strictly managed and regulated. Even something simple as repairing stockings needed a monthly ration (this one is for March) and identification of the owner. The Jewish self-administration worked under the Nazi control and was charged with implementation of the ghetto’s many regulations and restrictions.
