DescriptionCommemorative plaque in the shape of octagon. Inscribed: "Presented to the Bankstown Synagogue by J.L. Lewis J.P. to commemorate the barmitzva of his son Maxwell Feb. 28 1953-5713". Two holes for screws for attachment.
The plaques were originally installed in Bankstown Synagogue. Established in 1913, the synagogue was destroyed in a fire in March 1991 possibly by arson. The surviving plaques were placed with the AJHS and these were donated to the SJM. The Synagogue was never rebuilt.
