DescriptionNon-Jewish brothers Gerben and Hendrik Bonnema were born in Workum, the Netherlands. They were both active in the Dutch Resistance helping Allied pilots to escape by hiding them. They also assisted in the hiding of Jews. This certificate of gratitude and appreciation was awarded to Gerben Bonnema (father of the donor) for help given to British armed forces which enabled them to escape from or evade capture by the enemy.
