TitleStained glass memorial
DescriptionStained-glass memorial, in lead-lattice framework, made of stained-glass pieces of the Synagogue in Subotica, Yugoslavia (now Serbia). Holocaust survivors Helen and Shlomo Weinstein visited their home-town Subotica in 1983. In the shul, which had been vandalized and never restored, they picked up pieces of stained glass and when back in Sydney, had them made into a personal memorial for the Holocaust. The six yellow flames in the glass symbolises the six million who perished in the Holocaust. The synagogue was built in 1901-1902 in the Art Nouveau style by architects Jakab Dezso and Marcel Komor.
