DescriptionTwo page hand written letter from Lewis Jonas sent to his sister Kate and her family. Lewis has just come back from playing euchre. He had a good trip and was not seasick. He is still getting used to things but expects to settle in soon. He writes a bit about the mosquitoes and weather and mentions some of the letters he has received. He talks a bit about the hospital he is working at there. I would like to tell her more but he is prohibited to at the time being. In the letter he sends many good wishes.
Lewis Jonas enlisted in the Australian Army on 29 May 1940. He served in the South Pacific and was taken prisoner of war. He was discharged 24 June 1946 with the rank of Corporal. Lewis is the brother of the donor’s mother.
