DescriptionKurt Rector, a bank officer in Germany, was dismissed from his job in 1933. He then ran a 'Drogerie' (non-pharmacy store). Some time in 1935 the antisemitic sticker was attached to his shop window. The sticker (an exact replica of the original) features the stereotypical Jewish man with a large nose and unkempt unshaven face. The wording in German, "Wer beim Juden Kauft ist ein Volksverrater" means 'Those who are buying from Jews are a traitor of the people'. Kurt Rector left Germany on 5 November 1938, four nights before Kristallnacht, arriving in Sydney on 16 December.
