DescriptionPencil drawing of two men, marked as Jews, one with an armband (Polish) and the other with a Jewish star (the German way of marking Jews). Note however that the Star is on the right breast instead of the left, but expedient in that the right side of the man is visible, not the left. This man lies dying or exhausted, the other Jew behind him appears to be propping him up. The drawing is done on recycled paper - on the back of a printed form from a dairy (a collective agricultural enterprise), listing low fat milk cheese, cream and coffee and also calculating the price of these items. One of the columns indicates the content of fat and price per kilo. The calculations date from 1937, 1938 and 1939. The artist is unknown but it is possible that the drawing was made in the Lodz Ghetto (Litzmannstadt) on stolen paper.
