TitleWar Zone
Creator Stephen Skillitzi (scupltor)
DescriptionArtists statement: "Each facet of this work holds particular relevance to November 9th,1938 and the Holocaust that followed. The two main figures were inspired by my visit to Dachau. The smell of death, the horrific images that reside there will never, ever be finished or leave that place. In WAR ZONE the earth is depicted as relatively small and precarious. It is a world of arrogance, of self-centred personae surrounded by the fractured glass of Kristallnacht. The entire sculpture is enveloped in a sinister texture and tone and is an allegory for the hideous combination of Nazi persection and general world indifference. I acknowledge the sickening reality of a civilization that permits such horrors to exist and I weep."
