DescriptionAustralian Army health/sanitary education poster showing tips on how to prevent spread of disease in food and water. The poster is titled “The Awful End of Oscar the Orderly.” The poster is in a commercial illustrative style combining drawing with water colour. It is not signed by Marcuse but was in his son’s collection of drawings. The style appears to belong to Marcuse. Ernst Marcuse (1900-1985) was a commercial artist and illustrator who came to Australia in 1939. He produced many war illustrations for The Argus Newspaper and joined the Australian Army where he produced many visual aid material for training and illustrating for Army publications.
