The illustration shows how to fit a producer gas unit to a car in order to ration petrol. The drawing is signed by Marcuse. Ernst Marcuse (1900-1985) was a commercial artist and illustrator who came to Australia in 1939. He produced many war illustrations for The Argus Newspaper and joined the Australian Army where he produced many visual aid material for training and illustrating for Army publications.
