DescriptionLetter, written in Polish, by Fela Berkman in Warsaw to the Pszenny family in Sydney. The letter is undated but the envelope bares a postmark dated 28.11.1938. It is written in lead pencil on blue lined grid paper and is approximately 45 words in length. Fela writes, "My Dearests, Write to me if Romeczek can understand a little bit of English. Can he say something in English. How can he play with English children. Everyday I am expecting a letter from you and I am hoping that in the letter, you will tell me that you became a millionaire.
I miss you and when you write a letter, write to me personally a few words. I kiss you all. Fela." On the back there are two sums: 1 + 8 = 9 and 1 + 9 = 10.
When she wrote the letter in November 1938, Fela was six years old. It is written to her Aunt Stenia, Uncle Benjamin and cousin Romeczek Pszenny (Ron Penny). Nothing was heard from the Berkman family after November 1939. Except for the three Pszenny family members who immigrated to Australia before the war, the entire family was murdered.
