TitleDr. Theo Morell
Creator Heinrich Hoffmann
DescriptionBlack and white photographgraph of Dr Theo Morell, Hitler's personal physician, in his laboratory. Dr Morell (1886-1948) was well-known in Germany for his unconventional, holistic and alternative treatments. Morell treated photographgrapher Heinrich Hoffmann (who took this image) in 1936 and it was Hoffmann who introduced Morell to Adolf Hitler later that year. Morell served as Hitler's physician from 1936 until his dismissal on 22 April 1945, just weeks before Hitler's death. After the war, Morell was arrested and held in an American internment camp but was never charged with any crimes. He died of a stroke while in their custody in 1948. This is a copy of the original photographgraph from Hoffmann's archives.
