Titledoll
DescriptionChild's plastic doll with short, blonde, molded hair, brown eyes and moveable limbs. She is wearing a short, pale blue dress with a white apron decorated in blue, orange and pale green embroidery. The clothes appear to be hand made. The doll was made in Germany and brought to Australia by 5 year old Margot Fuks - (name changed to Fox in Australia) aboard the "D. Main" in 1938. The ship left Bremen for Sydney on 24 October 1938. A photo of Margot and another girl with this doll appeared on the front page of the Sydney Morning Herald, taken just after the boat docked, 6 December 1938. Fearing that relatives left behind would be persecuted, Margot's parents, Hersch and Emmi, withheld their names from publication.
