DescriptionA small, embossed, cut out Jewish New Year card showing American Jews standing on one side of an expanse of water with their arms reached out to welcome European Jews, who stand on the other side of the water, carrying bags of personal belongings. The Statue of Liberty and ships can be seen in the background. Above the Americans is an eagle holding an American flag crest and a banner with Hebrew text reading "In the shade of your face we shall hide". Above the European Jews is the Austrian coat of arms held by the two-headed bird. The card is copyright by Hebrew Publishing Company, USA, 1909. Such novelty cards were popular in the early 20th century.
