DescriptionReceipt for civilian clothing issued on discharge to locally enlisted personnel (standard procedure). Form was filled out in triplicate and this is the duplicate copy issued to Alfred Hofbauer on his discharge from the British Army (Pioneer Corps). It lists the items issued as 1 suit, 1 hat, 1 tie, socks, shoes and raincoat. Alfred Hofbauer signed the form to acknowledge receipt of the goods on 22 June 1946. Alfred Hofbauer was born in 1913 in Vienna and found refuge in France c. 1938. He escaped to Switzerland c. 1939, joined the French Foreign Legion 1939/1940, then the Pioneer Corps, British Army in 1943. He fought in North Africa and Italy in World War II and came to Australia in 1946.
