DescriptionDeportation and exemption notification slips for Jaroslav Lipa (Jaroslaus on the slip), born 1899, incarcerated in Theresienstadt. He died 10 September 1943 in Charles Square Police Prison, Prague, age 44 after being interrogated.
The note was delivered to the prisoner usually in the morning of the same day when he/she were to report for the Transport later in the day. The Einberufung (calling people together for assembly) gave details of the permitted/non-permitted content and weight of the luggage.
Strip a) Summons for Jaroslav Lipa to Transport By (26.10.1942) – the first transport from Terezin to Auschwitz-Birkenau. The number 1805 is his registration number; one was assigned to each selected prisoner by the Transport department of the ghetto’s Jewish self-administration.
