DescriptionThis is a personal letter from Lieutenant Gordon Tonkin who was commander of the platoon that Private Platt was a member of. Tonkin expresses his sympathy to Mr Platt (Roberts Father). Tonkin states that the medical orderlies did all they could for Robert, and that the service for his funeral was conducted by the battalion Padre (not a traditional Jewish service the padre was most likely Church of England or Catholic, Captain George Dick Smith chaplain of the 30th Australian Infantry Battalion) .The letter is two pages long first page part A second page part B.
