DescriptionBlack and white lino-cut print that features a man's head and shoulders with his back to the viewer. He faces a single brick chimney stack with smoke. The artist, Noel Counihan, a prominent Australian painter, visited Poland in 1949, where he saw the Stutthof and Auschwitz concentration camps. The experience prompted him to create a folio of lino-cuts titled "War or Peace" which included "The Factory of Death" (M1992/003:001) and "They Think Freedom can be Jailed" (M1992/003:002).
