DescriptionBlack and white press photographs documenting the holocaust. British official photograph showing Himmler's dead body lying on the floor with a blanket over him. Attached to the back a typed label in English - "Reichsfuehrer SS. Heinrich Himmler, was arrested by troops of the British 2nd Army at Bremervorde on 21st May and taken into Field security custody on 22nd May. Himmler was travelling under the name of Hizinger and was disguised with a black patch over his right eye and had shaved off his moustache. Himmler was confined under armed guard - stripped and medically examined to find hidden poison. during the final stage of this examination he bit open a small glass phial containing cyanide of potassium, concealed in his mouth. He died in 15 minutes."
