DescriptionPhotograph of Sali Fuks taken at his Bar Mitzvah 1936. Sali Fuks was born in Poland in 1920. He escaped from Nazi Europe to England and joined the British Army, first pioneer corps the parachute regiment. Sadly, his plane was shot down over Germany and he was presumed killed in action on 24 March 1945. In the army he was given the name of John Fairbanks to prevent possible reprisal by Germans in the event of capture.
