DescriptionJewish prayer book entitled “Mirjam” by Rabbi Dr Arnold Kiss (1869 – 1940). The prayer book contains Hungarian language prayers for women and was first published in 1897. It was a popular prayer book for women who could not read Hebrew.
It contains prayers for weekdays, Shabbat and Festivals as well prayers for special occasions such as prayer for parents, prayer for childless women, prayer for pregnant women, a step-mother’s prayer, a mother’s prayer for a sick son or daughter, prayers in times of war, prayer for joyful occasions etc. It also contains prayers regarding all phases of mourning, including prayers at the grave of various family members as well as Yizkor (Mazkir) prayers.
The name inside this book is 'Singer Eith' - the mother-in-law of the donor Ann Korner.
