DescriptionThe artist who created this caricature was Simon Wiesenthal, himself a survivor of Mauthausen. It depicts a scull in a Nazi uniform conducting a macabre piece of music score, made up of rope and prisoners tied in various positions to mimic the notes. It was issued on the first anniversary of the liberation of Mauthausen. It is stamped 5 May, 1946.
