DescriptionBlack and white photograph depicting a scene of a German reprisal, in the town square of Olkusz, Poland, where 20 Polish people were shot for assassination of a German Police officer by a partisan in 1940. Later the Germans also shot many Jews and more Poles. It became known as "Bloody Wednesday".
