DescriptionMedal awarded to Private Samuel Singer for service during the First World War. The 'face side' of the medal contains the profile of King George V, with inscription 'Georgivs V Britt OMN Rex et IND IMP'. Obverse side contains an equestrian figure with date 1914-1918; the rim bears the inscription '1621 Pte S. Singer 2 Bn AIF'. 1621 being his service number.
Samuel Singer, born in London in 1891, enlisted in the Australian Imperial Forces and served in the 2nd Battalion in 1914. He was killed by a shell in France on 25 July 1916. He is listed in a memorial to fallen British Commonwealth Soldiers, in Villers-Bretonneux, France.
