A capital levy for Jews or the "Reichsfluchtsteuer" does not apply. Werner Pikarski was a refugee from Nazi Germany. Although never confined in a concentration camp he was never the less a victim of Nazi persecution. Documents in this collection refer to various procedures necessary before he was allowed to leave Germany. For one year, 1938-1939 he was a student at Gross-Breesen. Werner left Germany and came to Australia in 1939, leaving his family behind. In Australia he changed his name to Bill Parker.
