DescriptionEight-page typed testimony/response to M1999/016:010 written by Eva Nagler, Sydney, Australia to Mr Gutschke, West Germany, 29 July 1977. She expresses her extreme disappointent of the sentence handed down to Erich Meissel for the atrocities committed. "You will forgive me and at the risk of sounding bitter (not a very gallant thing in the English speaking world) that I cannot help but express deep disappointment with regard to Erich Meissel. I have no understanding whatsoever of legal procedures or trappings, but it seems to me that this man should not have escaped justice for his Schippenbeil crimes which included shooting of prisoners on the Baltic, especially when 5 independent witnesses recognised him on photographs."
Erich Meissel, together with a dozen Ukrainians and 4-5 SS men were responsible for killing of this group of 300 people, which included Eva's sister Sonia, aged only 24.
