Leopold Pavlovic lived in Poland during the years 1939 - 1945. He was able to secure a certificate of birth and baptism in the name of Leopold Rychtman certified by a Roman Catholic Priest in Lemberg, which allowed him to live under an assumed name and to obtain other documents, which helped him avoid detection as a Jew. He takes up residence in Lemberg and gets a job with the railway working as an interpreter under his assumed Christian name of Leopold Rychtman.
